Welcome to St Augustine’s
St Augustine’s Cathedral serves the diocese of Port Elizabeth communities of Central, Mill Park, Richmond Hill, South End and surrounding areas.
Our beautiful church was consecrated for worship and dedicated to St Augustine on the 25th April 1866. Bishop Ricards preached the opening sermon from the Text Isaiah 11: 7; “My house shall be a house of Prayer.” Bishop Moran conducted the consecration service.
Today our multi-cultural parish is home to just over 600 parishioners and strives to be a welcoming, prayerful community, where all can find a home.
We strive to make visible the presence of the Risen Lord through vibrant liturgical celebrations, dynamic catechetical programmes, opportunities for personal and communal spiritual reflection in Small Christian Communities, and a variety of outreach programmes.
